From aluminium coil to road-ready in just five days!
IAEA Fellow and past president, Alan Watling spotted this video recently and wants to share with engineer friends and IAEA followers.
He observed, "It is amazing to see the robots programmed to synchronise during the workflow. I presume there's an emergency shut off switch just in case there's if a glitch on the line – otherwise, sheer chaos!"
This Tesla assembly plant is located just east of Reno, Nevada, North America and the company has just announced another facility to be built in Austin, Texas.
This video shows is how the car comes together. Quite amazing - note how few employees there are involved in the assembly process.
Also, note that most of the components for the car are built in-house. There are few parts suppliers involved. The car is assembled under one roof – how things change.
