Bristol Region held a very successful meeting at the Fox Inn, Easter Compton, Bristol on Wednesday 2 May 2018 when Jason Cross, MD of FAB recycling delivered an excellent presentation on his companies business objectives and the use of Green recycled parts in fleet vehicle maintenance and accident repairs.

The presentation was extremely entertaining and delivered with great enthusiasm. Jason started by giving a brief history of FAB which started in 1991 as a specialist dismantler growing quickly to offer parts from all marques to the trade, general public and fleets. He has spent 23 years in vehicle recycling and has been working for Foreign Auto Breakers (FAB) since 1995. FAB became a limited company in 2000 and two years later bought their current site in Cinderford.

Jason is sure Green Parts are the future and feels it has been slow to take off due to concerns over consistency, quality and delivery. To address this FAB have introduced a system of grading parts so each purchaser knows exactly what condition that part is in and all parts are graded according to the scheme. FAB now distribute Green parts in their own vans anywhere in the UK within 48 hours of the order being placed.

Jason was one of the first in the industry to understand the importance in the fleet market that green parts would play and was instrumental in him winning contracts with many of the large fleet operators.

Jason answered numerous questions from the floor after which the Chairman extended thanks from the region to Jason for his excellent presentation and enquired as to the possibility of a group visit. Jason has now agreed to a group site visit one afternoon or a

Saturday morning which is great news. Anyone interested in attending please contact Dave Harwood skip3hg@gmail.com

Bristol Region next meeting will be held on September 19 2018 when Adam Murray will present on 'Vehicle Technology and the revised ABI Code of Practice for the disposal of motor vehicle salvage.
