Welcome to the Irish Region of the Institute of Automotive Engineers & Assessors.

The region's members comprises independent engineers, insurance staff engineers and other commercial organisations working within the industries of automotive and transport.

There are currently 245 affiliates, associates and corporate members registered with the Irish region and growing year on year.

In recent times many of the region's members have successfully undertaken the Institute of Automotive Engineer Assessors' examinations through DIT Bolton Street, Dublin or by distance learning via IAEA UK Admin Centre.

The region regularly holds CPD compliant lectures to keep the region's members informed and updated in such areas as legislation amendments, vehicle repairs and new vehicle technology.

Irish regional committee members also keep an open relationships with the Government bodies and other industry organisations on a consultation basis in forthcoming legislation and areas of interest to the members.

In recent years many of the government bodies such as the Road Safety Authority, National Transport Authority, Revenue and other departments have recognised IAEA membership to complete SQI (suitably qualified individuals) technical reports.

The Insurance industry, The Automobile Association and The Society of the Irish Motor Industry also recognise the IAEA Irish regional members as SQI individuals to complete vehicle inspections and technical reports.

As the requirement of only qualified IAEA engineers by businesses and other bodies is becoming standard practice, we expect the region's membership to grow further.

Articles of interest in the media seen by our members or indeed their own dissertations or letters are always welcome for publication by the editor of The Assessor, our Institute Journal.

Ideas for lectures and the organisation of such outside Dublin are welcomed by the Committee who would support such activities and should be submitted to the regional secretary.

The regional AGM is normally held in the New Year and nominations are encouraged for officer and Committee positions.

Notification of events is by email and is usually shown on our regional web page or other social media platforms.
